Romancing the Genres (RTG)
is an International Group blog consisting of twenty individual authors.
Currently these individual authors (Genre-istas) reside in Australia, Canada,
United States and United Kingdom.
RTG monitors blog posts
on our site but we are not responsible for the contents of individual
Genre-istas’ websites, blogs or other social media.
RTG through the
Genre-istas does
provide “services” to our readers which includes but is not limited to contests; free downloads, purchases of
books or short stories. RTG also is active on social media including Facebook,
Twitter and Google+. Other social media accounts may be added at a later date. What’s important is that you are
responsible for your settings on these social media company’s sites.
Information
you provide Romancing The Genres will never be sold, traded or loaned. However, information you provide in
“Comments” on an individual blog posting is public as is information you
provide it you click a link in a Genre-ista’s post. Public information is not protected.
Affiliate Links
At
this time Romancing The Genres has no Affiliate links to 3rd party
businesses such as Amazon, iBooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo and possibly others.
Should that change, the information will be posted on RTG’s page.
Be
aware that individual Genre-istas may have Affiliate Links which means if you
purchase a book from them, the Affiliate businesses do use a tracking cookie to
pay the author a few cents on each book purchased.
Facebook
If
you are logged onto Facebook when you visit this site, a tracking pixel
generated by Facebook may remember you as a visitor to Romancing The Genres or
a related site. As a result you may see ads for Romancing The Genres or
specific Genre-ista’s books on Facebook from time to time.
Your Credit Card
At
this time, there is no direct sales system installed on Romancing The Genres.
If one is installed in the future, we will see your billing and shipping
addresses and the name you provide. But we will not have access to
your credit card information. Payments would be handled by a worldwide web
transaction provider: PayPal, Square, Stripe, or similar.
Information
we do collect and may retain:
Messages you send through our Contact page. We use this information to respond to you
directly.
Comments on any and all posts published at Romancing The
Genres. Blogger uses Google Analytics.
With this service we are able to see how many page views for each post, which
posts received the most comments, what country the commenter or visitor is
from, what device was used to check out RTG.
If you use a third-party connection, for example,
Facebook, Twitter or Google + to log onto RTG, that third party may pass
certain information about your use of its service. This information could
include, but is not limited to, the user ID associated with your account (for
example, your Facebook UID), an access token necessary to access that service,
any information that you have permitted the third party to share with us, and
any information you have made public in connection with that service.
You should always review, and if necessary, adjust your
privacy settings on third-party websites and services, like Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram etc. before using them to link to other places.
Analytics
information: Romancing The Genres is hosted by Blogger, a
member of the Google family therefore Google Analytics is part of the Blogger
platform. Check out Google’s Privacy Policy here.
We directly collect analytics data as noted above through
Google Analytics. This data help us measure traffic and usage trends for our blog
posts and social media connections. These tools collect information sent by
your browser or mobile device, including the pages you visit and other
information that assists us in improving our Services. This analytics
information comes to us in aggregate form such that we cannot reasonably
manipulate it to identify any particular individual user.
Sharing
of Your Information We will not rent or sell your information to
any third parties without your consent, except as noted below:
Who
can see User Content: Any User Content that you voluntarily
disclose (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, on blogs open to public reading) and made
available to your friends or the public cannot be removed by us. Check your settings carefully and be aware
of how your posts are being made public or not. Once you make a post on one
of our blogs or comments pages, or Facebook or Twitter feeds, User Content may
not be complete removed even though it has been deleted from the site.
It is
possible that content will remain viewable in cached and archived pages of
Internet search engines and on other sites that have republished us, or if
other Users have copied or saved that information.
If
you do not wish your User Content to be available to the public, please don’t
post it to our blogs, comment pages, or social media sites which are all
public.
Instances
where we are required to share your information: We
will disclose your information where required to do so by law or subpoena or if
we reasonably believe that such action is necessary to (a) comply with the law
and the reasonable requests of law enforcement; (b) to protect the security,
quality or integrity of our Sites; and/or (c) to exercise or protect the
rights, property, or personal safety of our Users, or others.
Links
to Other Websites and Services: Romancing The Genres is not
responsible for the practices employed by individual Genre-istas’ websites or
services linked to or from our blogs, comment pages, or social media sites,
including the information or content contained therein.
Please remember when you use a link to go from one of our
Sites to another website, our Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party
websites or services. Your browsing and interaction on any third-party website
or service are subject to that third party’s own rules and policies. We are not responsible and we do not have
control over any third parties that you authorize to access your User Content.
If you are using a third-party website or service (like Facebook, Twitter,
Google groups, etc.) and you allow such a third-party access to your User
Content you do so at your own risk.
