Erin Kellison here

I’ve wanted to be a writer all my life. I asked for a typewriter for Christmas in the fourth grade and I started my first novel in the sixth—never completed, but I still get a kick out of those pages. I got an English Lit degree and went on for a masters focusing on oral story-telling. But what I really wanted to do was tell my own. With the support of my family, I was able to realize that dream, and frankly, I’m hooked.

My Shadow series has a very dark, modern take on fairy tales and mythology. I’m working on the fourth book right now.
I love first drafts, so I’m in a sweet spot with my story. This is the dreaming-scheming period, full of danger and possibilities. It’s this giddy sense of what’s-going-to-happen-next? that makes me love my job.

What drew me to this blog was the focus on the diversity of the genre. Romance encompasses so much. For example, my stories straddle other genre fiction—fantasy, in that I explore a fantastical Other world I call Twilight, and urban fantasy, because my books are contemporary, feature urban settings, and have that characteristic grit. Plus, I’ve got the dark frights of horror and the high stakes of a thriller. But underpinning the whole is a romance between the hero and heroine, as well as the promise that no matter what dark creature stalks the reader through the pages, everything is going to be just fine. But by all means, read and see for yourself. More information and excerpts are available online at http://www.erinkellison.com/.

Also, I’m lucky to have friends among my fellow bloggers. Hello, fellow bloggers! Watch out, readers, we have some movers and shakers here.

Erin,You sound like you never wavered from the Writer's Path! Whereas I wandered around for a long time. *VBG* Isn't it interesting how we all ended up hear?

Your books sound like the kind of surprising, triumphal stories I love. Adding them to my TBR pile!

Hi Erin. Sounds like you and I have a bit in common in that I write dark fantasy/horror short stories (plus occasional mystery and SF) though often with a romantic subplot.

I agree with Sarah. Your consistency in becoming a writer is admirable. I may have done lots of writing in my life but actually telling stories with my writing - pretty new territory for me.

Glad you are a role model for others coming up the writing road.
