Introducing Diana McCollum

Hi, there! Welcome to Romancing the Genres. I am very excited to be a part of this innovative blog.

My name is Diana McCollum, I write, and I am an award-winning painter. I love to make seed bead jewelry which is tedious, and that’s how I meditate. The best time is time spent with my family. The kids are all grown with children of their own.

I reside in northern California in a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Mts.
There was snow at my house on April 12 of this year. That is the latest in the season that it has snowed in the 22 years we’ve lived here.

In June of this year I am retiring from my job as Billing Administrator for a Bridge Building firm in Sacramento. My husband and I are headed north in June, not to Alaska, we are moving to the high desert of Oregon to begin our new ‘Adventure’.

There will be more time for writing, beading, fishing and together time with my husband. We hope to join a Black Powder Gun Club. We used to belong to one down here, but with work, family and commute we didn’t have enough hours in the day for everything.

Adventure is what my writing is all about. Perhaps a novel set in the 1400s with a vampire who is evil or a cursed hero who can’t find love and never ages, who needs the love of a good witch to break the spell.

Then there are the contemporary ones, with psychic characters or objects that have a power attached to them. This is exciting material and I get to live it through my characters.

Clairvoyant, psychic or intuitive I think we all have some of these qualities, do you?

Yes, I do think we all have psyche qualities. First we have to acknowledge that and then look for when they come into play.

Thanks for joining us, Diana. Looking forward to meeting you in person once you're in Oregon.

Hi, Judith! I agree, one has to be aware of the possibilities and then use them when they appear. My sister thinks so highly of you I am really looking forward to meeting you too.

I agree that first you have to recognize your ability. I really don't think I have any of these qualities, my mother did. She amazed me many times, and I can to believe what she said (she was a good person that was not really out there is you know what I mean) and a couple times, I realized the quality.

Good luck with your new adventure and writing!!

You already know I agree with you, Sister! :)

I'm a believer!

And thanks again for that RWA membership you bought me. I wouldn't be here now if it weren't for you. Love you!

If you ever DO want to come as far north as Alaska, look me up! Great to meet you on the blog!

Aw ... I love the RWA gift membership story. It is a great organization, isn't it??

Congratulations on your new adventure. Sounds like a dozen kinds of fun to me! And that chair is cool ... is that a wizard motif?

Thanks for stopping by Lisa!:))

Thanks, Tam! I will look you up, we plan to make Alaska one of our must visit places.

Greta, the chair was a bedtime theme for my Grandaughter when she turned 1 yr. Now it is a tradition and I've made 3 rocking chairs. For the newest members of our family.

Lucky grandkids.

Good to meet you, Diana. I grew up in Vacaville, though I'm in the high desert of AZ now...probably similar to where you'll be living in Oregon, soon! Just wanted to say hello. Isn't it awesome to be a part of this group? Oh, and on another note, yes, I think all of us have some extra qualities...
intuition especially--but a lot of us refuse to acknowledge either subconsciously or consciously.

Courtney good to meet you too! My daughter Lisa lives in Fairfield, close to your old town of VAcaville. This is an awesome blog!

GREAT to see you on this excellent new blog! I'm so sorry you will be moving out of our area because it was so much fun seeing and talking to you at SVR meetings. BEST of luck in your 'new adventure.'
