Paty Jager- Western Romance

Howdy! I'm Paty Jager. I grew up in Oregon in a rural community about twenty years behind the times. We had an outhouse, wood shed to hold the fuel for the wood cookstove, and when the power went out we dipped water from the creek. Summer vacations from school were spent riding my horse on the mountains behind our house and dreaming of the Nez Perce Indians who rode the mountains before me.

Today, I raise hay and cattle with my husband of thirty-two years. One piece of property is rural. There I still use an outhouse, have to bring my own water when it isn't irrigation season, and until last year, I showered outside under a faucet on the side of the cabin.

All of this helps to make my western stories, whether they're historical or contemporary, ring true for the western genre.
I've always been fascinated by the men and women who traveled across the states to live in Oregon. It was a long and grueling trip. They had to be tough and independent to make the journey and then survive afterward.

Their grit makes them great heroes and heroines and the wild country and other independent characters builds conflict into the stories.

I'm excited to be a part of this multi-genre blog and learn more about how writers of other genres feel about what they write.

Thank you Sarah and Judith for bringing us together!

Paty, your passion for your characters shines through in your books. And I love all the historical details of life in the wild west that you include in your Western and Native American romances!

Paty, echoing Sarah's comment about the historical details you bring to your writing. Thanks for your support of RTG!

It sounds like you've lived the life, and that must be why the details in your books are so rewarding to the reader. My first purchase for my new NOOK was "Spirit of the Mountain". I am really enjoying it. So glad you are a part of this group.

What better way to add flavor to your writing than living the life? Awesome. I've always wondered what it would be like to rough it, even though I'm a total ninny. Perhaps I can live vicariously through your work!
