Pike's Place Halloween Fun & a Surprise Giveaway!

Happy Halloween!!!
We're also celebrating out Six-Month Blog-O-Versary tomorrow, Nov. 1st!!!

SOSIO'S FRESH FRUIT & PRODUCE
PIKE'S PLACE MARKET

I have many things to celebrate today.  Rather than frighten you with ghost stories or recount the story of RTG's inception, already told so eloquently by Judith Ashley earlier this month, I decided to do a Surprise Giveaway to one lucky reader who comments on this post and leaves their email address so I can contact them.

What will the Chosen Winner win?
Delicious chocolate-covered Chukar Cherries (milk chocolate or dark chocolate, your choice.)  Why Chukar Cherries? And what's a chukar, anyway? Funny you should ask...

Our story begins last Thursday when my DH and I had the good fortune to visit Pike's Place Market in Seattle, Washington. Over a century old, the nine-acre market is America's premier farmers' market. With over 200 commercial businesses, about 190 craftspeople and 100 farmers who rent table space by the day, and 240 street performers and musicians, Pike's Place is often called 'the soul of Seattle.'

At Pike's Place Market, people know how to celebrate Halloween!

MARKET MAGIC SHOP &
FORTUNE TELLER MACHINE

WE BOUGHT SMOKED SALMON,
FRESH MONK FISH, AND
SPOTTED SHRIMP FROM
PURE FOOD FISH MARKET.

AND A PEPPER WREATH FROM LEE'S FRESH PRODUCE

AND EXQUISITE JEWELERY
FROM NATURE'S TWIST

HOLIDAY GIFTS FROM
HANDS OF THE WORLD

By mid-afternoon, we were worn out and needed to leave for home to beat the afternoon traffic exacerbated by what Seattlites are calling Viadoom and Viageddon (road/bridge work on steroids.)

Then, as fate would have it, I spotted the girls with the cherry-red hair selling Chukar Cherries.

Charmed, I had to try a sample of their chocolate-covered cherries. They are so delicious I decided to share my discovery and my Seattle adventure with you!
THE EQUALLY CHARMING FREE SAMPLE GUY

I'll put all the names in a hat and have my DH, Chuck, draw one tonight. Chuck is good at picking winners. He married me, didn't he?

Don't forget to include your email address in your comment so I can contact you if you are the lucky winner!

Am I disqualified if I already live in the Seattle area? I *love* Pikes Place Market. If you get a chance on your next trip (because you'd love to come back, right?) you have to book the ghost tour. So creepy... so fun!

I love the necklace, Sarah...hope I can take a peek when I see you next! Glad your Seattle trip had a little adventure at the end.

Have you ever written a travel guide? I'm even thinking of stopping at Pike's Place Market my next time in Seattle!

Jenn, You absolutely qualify! Your name will be in the hat. :) I'd love to take the ghost tour you mentioned. Thanks for the tip.

Um, Sarah, I do know what chukars are--stumbled on this critical info while doing some research last week. So do I really want to know what's inside Chukar cherries? Just askin'...

Sounds like you had a great time! Thank you for sharing!

They sound yummy, although Genene's comment about knowing what they have in them is a little worrisome. :) I'll admit I'm re-visiting your blog for the first time in quite a while. It had kind of fallen off my radar until I took a great workshop from Judith this weekend. She mentioned the blog and here I am. :)

June, Great point about Sleepless in Seattle! What a romantic city indeed!

Genene, I'm sure Chukar Cherry chukars are house broken, LOL. Luckily I tried the candy before I knew what a Chukar was!

Laurie, Judith does give enlightening workshops, doesn't she? I'm blessed to have her for my partner-in=crime at RTG. :)

Thank you all for your comments. Good luck in tonight's drawing!

Hey Sister! Love your commentary on Pikes Market. I'm thinking Jen's right, you should write a travel brochure, along with the blog and your MSs. LOL. We all need more time right? Love Di
