2016 - The Year your Dreams come True!

Can you believe it’s January already and the start of a brand new year?

As many of you know, I don’t make resolutions instead I create a vison board.  I start out the year collecting pictures and sayings that represent what I would like to accomplish in the year ahead.

Some personal reflection goes into the creation of this board. It represents what is important to me in the year ahead. Usually my board ends up being a combination of personal and business goals. There are times I divide it into four sections.

If you’re interested in designing a vision board, the first step is to get poster board.  Next you go through old magazines and clip pictures and sayings that best represent you and how you see your year shaping up. A considerable part of my board is devoted to travel. For example, this year I want to go to Scandinavia and Russia. I go through pictures of those countries and cut them out.

Managing my finances is also important to me.  I add a tip or two about saving and investing, and add words of wisdom from Suze Orman, the financial guru. Suze has a practical approach to savings and she gives helpful tips. http://www.suzeorman.com/

Those who know me also know I’m a foodie and I like good wine. So onto the board pictures of food and wine go.

Every year I also envision the ideal romantic partner. I cut out images of the physical type I see myself having   a relationship with and then I add the qualities I am looking for.

Speaking of romance, there’s always a place on that board for romance novels. This year has started off nicely in that area. On December 24th, 2015 I released a new book, titled Just You. I’ve gotten some very nice reviews, one of which I will share with you.  Thank you kind reader.

“This is the first time that I am reading this author's work and I was pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed the storyline and flow of this story. As someone who has dealt with being a care giver for several cancer patients, the author handle the subject matter in very realistic and thoughtful manner. I have to say that I wish Steve got more for his low-life behavior in falsely getting people to donate to Halle's cause. I loved how Xander's character unfolded - so glad the author included the emotional struggle and time it took him to really open himself to someone else. Overall a great read.”

Just You can be downloaded at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

I’ve also signed a four book contract with Brown Girls Books Enchantment line. Here’s a sneak peek of the cover for Eden’s Dream, my re-release scheduled for March. I particularly like this cover.

Back to my vision board.  Having collected my clippings and sayings, I strategically glue them onto the board.  Then board complete, I mount it in a prominent place. It is my map for the upcoming year and serves as a reminder to me to stay on track. It buoys me when I get down.

What is your vision for the year?  Whether you create a vision board or not, write them down. By writing down your goals they become more real, and are more likely to come true!

Happy New Year to you and may all your dreams come true!

Visit sunny Florida this January and  meet  some of your favorite industry peeps!

Love this post, Marcia! I don't do a Vision Board because I'm not a very visual person but I do write out my goals and post them to the left of my computer monitor so they are always within my peripheral vision when I'm at the computer. This year I broke my goals down into Personal and Writing focusing on health and well-being in the form and what I need to do to finish The Sacred Women's Circle series and up my promoting and marketing. Maybe next year I can add a trip to Florida's Fun in the Sun Conference!

Marcia, I love your concept of a Vision Board! I'm going to try making one this year.

Congratulations on the great reviews for JUST YOU. Great news about your new contract!! I'm so glad your wonderful novels are reaching an even wider audience.

Thank you Sarah and Judith for your comments. I'm very visual so the board works for me. Come on down to sunny Florida and our conference any time!

Marcia, I created a vision board in a fun group activity two or three years ago, put it away and forgot about it. I found it recently and realized quite a few of the things on my "visual wish list" had come true! For example, I stuck the words "Look Younger" on the board. Sometime after that, for my birthday my husband gave me a certificate for two facials. LOL!

So I too believe in the concept of visualizing what you want in order to create the reality.

Madelle, I visualized about being published. I wrote down those words and believed it. It came through. The mind is a powerful thing!
