Hi! My name is Evelyn Lederman. I write Paranormal-Science
Fiction Romance and YA Science Fiction. I was thrilled when I was asked to do a
guest blog for Romancing the Genres during their Scifi/Futuristic/Post-apocalyptic
Romance month. Talk about true escapism!
I am a long-time reader who was fascinated when authors told
me their characters talked to them. At first I thought they were a bit strange,
but it was a common theme among the authors I met attending various conventions.
You can imagine my surprise when six-months into my early retirement the same
thing happened to me.
In February 2014, I was driving to play tennis when I
recalled a real life conversation that took place outside Sedona, Arizona
between my older sister and a friend. It was about parallel dimensions and
String Theory. All of a sudden five girls started talking to me about being
raised in this dimension, but their parents were dissidents from another world.
Thus the Worlds Apart Series was born. In this series I have
a parallel dimension of telepathic beings. The world is controlled by mind
control telepaths and the parents of the heroines left their world to escape
the government they tried to overthrow. One by one my young women return to the
Troyk universe to discover their telepathic powers and soul mates. The first
time soul mates touch it is electric, when a closed telepathic channel opens
between them. When they make love for the first time, their brains excrete a hormone
that takes them to their next stage of telepathic abilities.
In ‘The Crystal Telepath’, the second book in the Worlds
Apart Series, I created a horrific dimension populated by vampires. This world
was so popular, I spun that realm into its own series. The Nightshade Saga is
my best selling series. ‘Nightshade’ will be available for free via Amazon
Kindle 9/2-9/6/2016. The first two books are also on audiobook.
My paranormal-science fiction is also considered New Adult.
This is due to the age of my heroines, their lack of parental support,
experiencing true love for the first time, and the journey they all travel. All
my characters literally transform throughout the books.
Writing my YA series, The Zaratan Trilogy, allowed me to
develop a space opera while maintaining the parallel dimension theme for my
adult books. The trilogy starts with ‘Selected’ when aliens attack Earth and
demand our children. It is written 3rd person through a 14-year-old
girl’s eyes who is selected.
This year I was also asked to write a novella for S.E.
Smith’s Magic, New Mexico Kindle World. I used elements of the world she
created and was able to work a parallel dimension into the story. By doing
this, it gave Susan’s readers an idea of what my books were like.
I hope you enjoyed a taste of what I write. My website is http://www.evelynlederman.com

Evelyn, I love your parallel dimensions concepts! I've always been intrigued by the possibilities. Thank you for Guesting at RTG!
Love how everyday occurrences/conversations can lead our minds into a story. Parallel dimensions reminds me of Doctor Who and Rose. Loved/cried during the last episode.
Thanks for the comments on the parallel universe concept. Love Dr. Who as well.
Evelyn, Thank you for guesting with us at Romancing The Genres. I was talking with my best friend less than an hour ago about parallel universes and how that concept factors in to our dying. Do we die? or do we travel to a parallel universe? Will we have to die to find out?
