So it’s February
and this month we celebrate Valentine's Day and all things romance. Our theme on Romancing the
Genres is even “My most romantic…”
So I thought I’d
share a romantic scene from my upcoming release, Last Stop At Paradise. It’s the
third and most likely final book in my Shellwater Key Tales series. Callie
Dalton is a widow trying to outrun a scandal caused by her deceased husband.
Noah Johnson is the man trying to convince her that he can be trusted.
(Noah’s)
gaze centered on her. “I think maybe I was supposed to wait for something else.
For someone else.”
A
clanging went off inside her mind and Callie renewed her efforts to get away.
“Don’t say it.”
“I
have to,” Noah said, securing her more firmly against him. “I know you’re scared,
and you don’t trust anyone, but in my heart I know that you are what I’ve been waiting for, Callie. I knew it the moment I
saw in you in the pool.”
“That’s crazy.”
“That’s crazy.”
“Maybe,
but it doesn’t stop me from wanting you.” He framed her face. “And I know you feel
it too, no matter how frightened you are.”
She
shook her head. “I don’t.”
A smile appeared and the twinkle that always took her breath away appeared in those changeable eyes of his. “Liar.”
A smile appeared and the twinkle that always took her breath away appeared in those changeable eyes of his. “Liar.”
She
narrowed her gaze at him. “Did you just—I am not lying.”
“No?”
He lowered his head and the warmth of his breath touched her skin as he skimmed
across her cheek to the hollow below her ear. “So you feel nothing right now?”
A
shudder coursed through her. “Absolutely
not.”
The
ripple of his chuckle chased along her nerve endings and then his lips were
hovering inches over hers. “Still nothing?”
“Not a
thing.” She let out a soft moan and tilted her face, seeking his lips. “Noah
please…”
Her
eyes closed as she waited for him to make the last move. Then at the last possible
second, he pulled back. “No.”
“What?”
Her eyes flew open.
“I
think you will have to kiss me. Prove that you’re not scared.”
“You’re
crazy. How does that prove anything?”
He
brushed the hair back behind her ear and trailing his fingers down the plane of
her neck, sending another wave of chills down her spine. “I could kiss you, but
then you might say I took advantage. If you kiss me, then it’s your choice to trust me.”
“Maybe I’m just sex-starved. I could be using you to scratch an itch that hasn’t been satisfied in a long time.”
“Maybe I’m just sex-starved. I could be using you to scratch an itch that hasn’t been satisfied in a long time.”
His
laughter rang out in the quiet workshop. “You think I don’t have an itch?” He framed her face once more, his
fingers massaging her scalp, sending ripples of sensation everywhere. “No, I
want you to come to me….”

Noah Johnson is a very smart and sexy man! Fingers crossed Callie Dalton figures this out by the end of the book - hahaha.
