S.J. Crabb's The Devil's Children

I started writing in 2015 and have- to date written 17 Romance Novels.
I like to switch between genres which makes for a very messy looking Amazon Author page.

I started writing The Devil’s Children and found that I couldn’t stop. I have always been fascinated by High School stories and it always seems so much more exciting than the UK system. I wanted a typical bad boy and decided to add a paranormal element by creating The Devil’s Son. This soon grew into the Devil’s Children.

However, far from being evil and cruel I focused on the family aspect. There are seven children who hate who they are. They hate their father and they hate each other. Their family life is dark and they crave a normal life. All of them have no love in their life so they desire it more than air.

Enter their Destinies – the woman and men who give them purpose and self-belief. In the middle of it all is their Father – Devlin Knight. A complex character who controls their lives. There is a lot more to him than his children give him credit for and it is as much about his struggle to give them purpose in their lives.

I live in southern England in the Uk with my husband and 17-year-old daughter. We have an adorable little Westie called Teddy who makes our family complete. They tolerate many burnt dinners and a house that begs for a duster. I am always tapping away on my computer and telling them “Just a minute.” Even on holiday I sit with my iPad, tapping away the thoughts in my head.

I do have a day job as a sales rep selling greetings cards. I love my job as it takes me all over the South-East of England and I get to spend most of my days in shops. Another hobby of mine-shopping!

I was once an Air Stewardess and travelled the world. I miss that as it was a dream job. However, I have a family now and would hate to be away from them.

I love chocolate, shopping, lemon drizzle cake and Nickelback. I am a frustrated Rock Chick and crave the sound of loud rock tunes and the gorgeous men that create them. Luckily for me I have a husband I adore who is something of a hero. As I write this he is in The British Virgin Islands helping with the relief effort with other members of the British Police Force.

You can find me online on the following sites. I spend a lot of time on Facebook and love to ‘chat’ with my readers on there as well as other Authors.

S.J. So glad you could join us from the UK on Romancing The Genres. I'm always amazed and inspired when I read how other authors come up with their stories. Your The Devil's Children books are a testament to your creativity. And, looks like your very own hero is working on behalf of British citizens in your Virgin Islands. Sending love and light to him and his British Police Force comrades who are helping with the relief effort there.

Thank you for having me here. I sleep a little and daydream a lot! There are never enough hours in the day but the voices in my head won't sleep. If that makes me sound crazy then I suppose I am.

Wow! 17 books in less than two years? That is unbelievably productive. I guess you were born to write. Congrats on your success. I understand the more than one genre thing. That's me too, but I'm not even half as productive as you.

I'd love to know how you produce so quickly--especially with a job and a family. You are amazing!

Yes, like Maggie, I'd like to know what your writing life is like. How do you manage your writing time? Your series sounds really intriguing. Great blog post.

I write at least 1500 words a day and about 5-6000 at the weekends. I get up early, about 6am and do at least an hour then, before starting the day. I don't watch TV and write again in the evening. There is also a lot of marketing to get through as well, so all of my time is not spent actually writing.
I find it easy to write the chapters because I think about what I will be writing as I walk the dog or when I'm driving. I work out the various possibilities then, so it is firmly in my head when I sit at the computer. I didn't start out to write like crazy-I only wanted to write one book. The trouble is it snowballed from there and I found I loved it. Now I am hoping to get to a level where I can make it my full-time job. Then my family will see me from time to time and my house will be tidy. They are very understanding and have seen what can be achieved with hard work and dedication. One of my books spent 5 weeks in the top 100 on Amazon UK and is still hovering just outside there now. Everything is possible even for somebody with no experience but the will to succeed. It also helps that I have three books in my head at a time. I always know what will be coming next and I think that is part of the reason I can write so quickly. It does help that I love it so much and it isn't a chore.
