A MILLION BUCK-A-ROOS!!!

By Diana McCollum

What would I do with a million dollars?

Our grandkids &Natalia's boyfriend, Victor top right
I believe that charity begins at home, or with my loved ones. We have ten grandchildren. 14 months old to twenty-five years old. The grandchildren who have graduated from high school, I would give 10,000 dollars to be used to pay on student loans, go to college or trade school or towards their first purchase of a home. The younger ones I would put 10,000 in a trust for each of them to be received when they graduate high school.

I’d pay off all the mortgages on our kid’s homes. Buy a small van/motor home for my husband and me to tour the states and Canada. I’d also build us a big green house. Buy a nicer fishing boat.

Whatever is left I’d donate to homeless shelters in Bend, and the Indians at Standing Rock Reservation who are still battling to stop the pipe line being built across their lands, (There has already been one oil spill into the river which supplies part of their drinking water!!)

Of course, we'd pay our taxes on the Million!

That’s it!

And I do have a question for you: What is one personal goal you made for this year?

Mine is to take better care of myself. # 1) this month I had my brows waxed and then tinted. It’s made me feel so much better!!! Kind of like how the car drives better when it is washed and cleaned!!!

Happy New Year!

Diana, my #1 personal goal continues to be (started it last spring) is to take care of me. Here are my 5 top strategies in no particular order: when my body feels stressed, I stop what I'm doing and take a break to rethink what I'm doing, how I'm doing it and whether I really need to finish; no list making unless it is to record appointments or special activities and even then, keep it general like "baby coming." I've added another monthly massage so now I have two of them. I have someone do my yard work and clean my house. I could use someone to clean my car. That will wait until February when I plan on having it detailed.

Wow! All great goals Judith! And I love the 2 massages, and someone to clean your house! I'd love that too.

Liked your post as always Diana. My main goal is to write more. The dust in the house will always be there no matter no matter how many times I clean. I want to work on my garden and all the other things I enjoy. I have discovered life is to short to focus on negative people or stuff. Life is to short so I plan to enjoy every minute of it.

I'm all for the self care part. We so often neglect ourselves. 10 Grandchildren, wow! You deeserve so much more than waxed and tinted brows. You deserve a trip around the world.

My goal is to add a cardio exercise class to my Pilates and yoga classes every week. Diana, when you get your van/motor home you can visit me in Canada's capital. Lots to do!

The first step to manifesting your dreams is to state them clearly. Now let's see how long it takes for all this to come true... :)

Louise, my dear Kansas friend! Thanks for stopping by, and yes those dust bunnies will always be there. Enjoy your writing and your garden etc.

Thanks, Marcia! I'd love a trip around the world! I hope you do something special for yourself this month/year.

Madelle, I'd love to come visit your you. Maybe some day? Kudos on adding a cardio class.

Fun post, Diana!

I can relate to all these personal goals people are sharing! Mine is to be more kind to myself and my loved ones. Give myself time to do the things that keep me happy and healthy, spend time on important relationships, and practice patience with others.

Diana, Fun photo of your grandkids. I have 10 as well but they are 14-1 year. My goal for myself is not to get crazy over my self imposed deadlines. If I miss one, I'll give myself permission to be okay with it. I love the waxed and colored brows. I've been thinking about that...

Thanks for stopping by, Annie! Goals are good to have.

I like your goals Sarah, especially "spend time on important relationships , and practice patience with others."

Thanks for stopping by , Paty! I can't believe what a difference the eyebrows make. I always for get to use pencil and now I don't have to worry about that. "))

My biggest goals are to exercise more and eat right. I'm usually good at the later, but in wintery-freezing cold months it is hard not to want comfort food like mac and cheese.

Love the blog - two great minds think alike. I always said I would pay off my kids mortgages and help my grandkids. I think I would buy a BIG house with a view of oceans or mountains - big enough so all the family can come and stay all at once. Then there are numerous charities I would give to, and to schools that I was lucky to attend (so others could be lucky to have the same wonderful education I had).

Self-care is high on my list too. I'd certainly add another massage each month. And someone to clean my house thoroughly, much better than I do myself. Comfort is what I'm after as I age. We'd do everything we can to make our house more comfortable. We like the location so we'd stay here. We have one granddaughter and two great grandkids. The greats are both planning on college, so we'd certainly finance that for them. They will do well. They are highly motivated and the boy plays a mean trumpet. There are other extended family members who could use some financial help, especially my husband's sister, who lives on $800+ a month social security. Hubby bought three Megabucks and one Powerball ticket today. Maybe we'll get lucky.

Thanks for stopping by Deb! We do think a lot alike! A big house with an ocean view, Hmmm , I could live with that!!

Barb, I'm glad you bought the tickets, I mean, someone has to win, why not you, or Deb or Me? Happy New Years ladies!!!
