We've moved to a new home in northern CA.
Leaving Bend, OR, I was afraid I'd not have wild animals in my yard like we did in Bend. Silly me! We have been visited by lots of animals and birds.
Our little pond with the waterfall is a favorite spot for all kinds of birds. We eat dinner and watch the birds come in and take baths or for a drink. We've seen Tangers, blue birds, hummingbirds, wood peckers, black birds, crows, finches etc. It is very entertaining.
Each day a doe and her fawn spend the afternoon under our fig tree in the back yard. They eat all the apples that fall from the apple tree.
In the evening a buck, and two more does wander through the yard.
We've also seen foxes, squirrels, and lizzards.
The fawn is fun to watch as it explores and jumps around. It noticed a butterfly on a rock the other day. When the butterfly moved it's wings the fawn jumped straight up and ran to it's mother.
We've been enjoying and thankful for all the animals who've graced us with their presence.
Do you have any wild animals in your yard?

Scrub Jays, woodpeckers, crows, flickers, robins, hummingbirds on a regular basis. I've also had a peregrine falcon spend time in my yard before the dead tree was taken down. Butterflies, bees (although not as many as usual), a white moth and then urban raccoons, a tree rodents aka squirrels.
You certainly have a lot of visitors , Judith!
What a lovely yard, Diana. No wonder the birds and animals visit you! We have lots of birds here too (mostly Steller's jays, magpies, woodpeckers, chickadees and nuthatches), and moose wander through occasionally. It is fun to watch them.
I am so happy that your new home has continued to provide you with lots of animal sightings. Having a water fountain makes a world of difference, especially for birds in the summer. Our home is half country and half suburb. We get lots of different birds, hummingbirds, and butterflies, and of course squirrels. We do have two jack rabbits that seem to like one place in our front garden. I don't see them eating anything, I think they are simply enjoying the shade and cover of bushes to keep them safe. We do have wandering skunks. I've seen one only once, but definitely smelled them multiple times. The cats will follow them from the window in the dark as well as other animals I can't see at night.
Really love all the pics you share, too!
Lynn,
I would love to see moose in my yard! They've always been one of my favorite animals. Thanks for stopping by.
Maggie,
I've yet to see a skunk! But that's probably a good thing. We do have at least one jack rabbit that visits the lawn every now and then. Thanks for stopping by.
