Winter time to me is snow, rain, warm coats, gloves, hot chocolate or other beverage. Leafless trees, ice on roads.
Curling up in a favorite chair with a book and that aforementioned hot chocolate or tea.

A fun photo post, Diana - winter means so many things to different folks. Right now, my backyard looks similar to yours. But unusual for Maine is that this is our first real snow fall for the winter. When I moved here 50 years ago, it would look like this in Oct and never change until it melted in April or May. Sad, but our weather has warmed so much over the years, we rarely see a lot of snowfall at once. LOVE the deer photo - how cool that you managed to frame the deer just so through the fencing. No wonder it ended up in the paper!

I’m not a fan of winter especially today after weeks of gloom and rain and today, cold and snow but your photos do show the beauty though I can’t quite see that in the moment. Lol
Fun post, Diana! I love winter! My daughter and I were oohing and awing at the beautiful trees here yesterday morning that were covered with frost crystals. They shimmered and glittered, so pretty! But we can never seem to catch the sparkle when we take photos. There has to be a way. Great photos!

I love when the trees have freezing frost on them. We got that a lot in Bend. I found if I got up close and focused on just one branch for instance, the ice crystals would show up.

When I was a child, winter was ice-skating, sledding, snowmen and such.
As a younger adult, it was the glories of racing down snowy slopes on skis! Cross-country skiing was a way to explore flat areas in the forests.
Now ... winter means pretty snow, but so cold!! and dangerous underfoot, and should we move to Hawaii??
On a positive note, writing happens indoors, as does quilting, reading, and my new treadmill. So, I can admire the snow from the comfort of my windows.
