His and Hers Romantic Gestures by Paty Jager

Since it's February and the supposed most romantic day of the year is upon us, I thought I'd take this time to showcase the romance in my life.

Like most people I met a man, we had several things in common, we fell in love, we married, and we had children. We've had almost 39 great years. We laugh a LOT! Mostly at each other. Yes, we can laugh at the other person and neither one of us get torqued out of shape. I mean if you can't laugh with the one you love what good is that?

Here is a list I came up with after hubby and I were discussing, oh yeah, Valentine's Day is coming up. Guess we'll be eating more chocolate. We don't need the card companies or the chocolate companies or the flower industry to tell us when to make a romantic gesture. We do it every day.

His Romantic Gestures:
He carries his plate to the sink after a meal.
The shower he made me.
He opts out of bacon and eggs and has cereal the day after I've stayed up late watching a mystery show.
He purchased the swather with the cab so I have air conditioning while I cut the hay, and he suffers from the heat and his allergies on the cabless swather.
He buys me Dove chocolate even though I told him my pants are getting too tight.
He plows out the driveway so it's easier for me to go for a walk in 0 degrees.
He put in an underground water line so I don't have to string hoses to water the horses.
He gave me the ugly little blue boombox he won at an event when my CD player bit the dust.
He gives me the TV remote at 8 o'clock because he knows he'll be asleep in 15 minutes and I might as well watch something I like.
He made a shower for me when I was commuting to do the irrigation and living in a dry cabin.
He puts me on the top of the hay stack when we load a trailer because it is easier for me to drag and drop 110 pound bales down to him than stack them.
He tells me to have fun when I head to a book signing and then texts me afterward to ask how it went.
He doesn't understand the writing community and all that publishing a book entail,s but he tells everyone I'm a writer and hands them my card.
He kisses me every morning, makes contact with me several times a day, and holds me when I go to bed.

Her Romantic Gestures:
She bakes his favorite cookies when he runs out of Oreos.
She makes heart shaped brownies on Valentine's Day as well as gives him a Reese's heart.
She has made his breakfast every morning that they've been married.
She's made dinner every night that they've been married.
She's moved irrigation hand line in oats and peas, alfalfa, and grass over the years.
She's bucked hay bales, driven tractors, loaders, baled hay, and cut hay.
She's milked cows, raised hogs, and been knocked down by cows.
She's made every move he's wanted, and stood behind his employment decisions.
Me driving the tractor
She's not always understood his methods, but followed him through when executing them.(even if her idea would have worked better)
She makes sure his boots are warm and dry and helps him into his insulated coveralls.
She does his laundry even when he brings her grease covered overalls.
She helps swath the hay and haul it off the field.
She follows him through the field helping employ his latest "kill the sage rats" scheme.
She listens to you tube videos of racing tractors and diesel engines agreeing that this one sounds better than that one.
She lived in a mouse infested house and in a 10ft x 16 ft cabin.
She kisses him every morning, hugs him every night, and is thankful he agreed to dance with her all those years ago when she asked.

This is the most romantic thing I've read in a long time! You are lucky to have each other - and you both know it!

Being someone who is allergy challenged, that one evoked an "aww". Here's to many, many, many more years.
