Photo Bucket List Vacations by Paty Jager

These are places I would like to someday see or participate in:

This first photo is of Australia. I have ogled over the photos author Susan Horsnell has posted on Facebook. I'd like to go see the sites that she has let us see through her photos.

Ever since reading Nora Roberts trilogy, Born in Ice, Born in Fire, Born in Shame, the Concannon sisters trilogy set in Ireland, I've wanted to visit.

Another trip on my bucket list is to ride a mule down into the Grand Canyon. Hubby said he doesn't want to go, so I'll have to talk my horse-loving daughter into going with me. Hopefully, before I can't sit on a horse for too long.

Another vacation I would like to take is to travel the Nez Perce (Nimiipuu) National Historic Trail. This is the route the Chief Joseph and White Bird Nimipuu bands traveled for 176 days in 1877 trying to find peace in Canada while the U.S. Army chased them. They finally gave up at the Bear Paw Battlefield near Chinook, Montana after starting from Wallowa Lake, Oregon. Every year riders and walkers travel 100 miles of the trail.

These are only a few of the places I would like to go on a vacation. I also wish to visit every one of the states in the United States and would like to take the train across Canada.

What is at the top of your vacation bucket list?

Paty, I've been to Australia and Ireland and they are well worth the long plane trip. When you go to Australia, do visit Cairns and take the trip into the tropical forest to see the butterfly sanctuary. It's been 20 years and I still smile when I think about it or open my butterfly umbrella. Even longer since I went to Ireland but I'd also go back there in a heartbeat. Same for Croatia. I watched a great PBS program on Dubrovnik, Croatia just yesterday.

A new place? I've always wanted to go to Maine because of the pictures I've seen of the rocky coastline. And I'd have the added bonus of seeing author, Delsora Lowe and maybe even Luanna Stewart, although she is in Canada. I've a long time friend with dementia who now lives with her sister in Indiana so that would be another place here in the U.S. I've not been unless you consider zipping through on the interstate.

The Nimiipuu Trail? I know I couldn't walk it and I've never really ridden a horse for any distance. That however would be a trip that would touch my heart in an entirely different way.

And I'm also a fan of Susan Horsnell's photos when she and her hubby travel across their nation.

Paty,

Loved your pictures! Austraila and Ireland are places I would like to see too.

I hadn't heard of the Nimiipuu Trail, I'd like to see it and walk on part of it.

Great post!

Judith, you made me even more interested in seeing both Australia and Ireland!
Hubby and I do want to see New York City. I want to see a play and he wants to go to Ellis Island to see what his parents saw when they arrived in America.
I agree about the trail touching your heart. Just stopping with my car at different battle locations and even the spiritual places of the Nez Perce, makes me want to do walk the trail and hear the stories.

Diana, I know Australia and Ireland are such different places, but they call to me. The Nimiipuu trial can be followed by car, but I'm sure riding or hiking the true path and hearing stories would be so much better.

Yes to all those places for me as well. Most especially Australia as I have a penpal there I've never met in person. We met through the Girl Guides when we were both about 12 years old, and her last name is Stuart, which we thought was so cool. We've kept in touch all these years, mostly Xmas cards with the occasional note or email thrown in.

There are vast swathes of Canada I haven't visited, so that's on my list. As well as Scotland and the small town we're purported to hale from. And France again, and more of Germany, and ... and ... and ...

Luanna, You had me smiling at the end of your comment. I only hit on the most important places, but I'm with you, I could go on and on with the places I'd like to see. All I have seen of Canada is the west side traveling with our daughter and her husband from Oregon to Alaska. that's why I would like to take the train that goes all the way across Canada. As soon as hubby gives up farming, I'll be looking into making a vacation out of that trip. ;)
