Happy, happy holidays!!!

 by Diana McCollum

Happy Holidays! I love this season! The Christmas lights, music and goodies to eat. We bought a giant tree this year to go in our open beam living room. This will probably be the last year for a giant tree. All the family is coming on December 28th for our family get together and celebration.

I'm still undecided if I'm having a turkey this year or stick with tamales and mexican sides. We did the tamales the last couple years and I thought a change might be nice. Plus, I love turkey dinner leftovers.

I took all these pictures around our house. I enjoy decorating for Christmas, except climbing the ladder to decorate the tree. Hubby decorated the top 1/3 or the tree on a very tall ladder.

Enjoy the pictures and leave a comment about what you are serving for the holiday dinners.

And I'll leave you to enjoy our Christmas Cactus that are blooming profusely this year. Let me know what you are cooking for your Holiday Dinner this year.

This is a lovely and joyful time of year! Loved the pictures of your beautiful tree and decorations! We're planning on finishing decorating tonight. There's an Ice Storm coming here in Iowa so everyone will be home until Sunday.

We're having a turkey and ham dinner with mashed and sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and green bean casserole - plus a variety of pies for dessert.

Happy Holidays, Diana!!!

Love your Christmas Cactus blooms. Mine isn't going to do that this year.

I plan on getting either Thai or Indian food to go on Tuesday and having left over's on Wednesday (Christmas Day). No cooking or entertaining is how I want to spend the day.

Sarah,
I remember ice storms from Michigan, not fun! enjoy your Christmas dinner.

Judith,

I could eat Thai any time! And there are always leftovers.
Thank you both for stopping by.

Great pictures! We're having turkey this year. My favorite turkey leftover recipe is turkey enchiladas.

Lynn,
I love the idea of turkey enchiladas! What a great use of leftover turkey.

My son is hosting Christmas Eve and Day- so we are spending the night with my daughter and her family flying in to join us- YAY! Christmas Eve we are doing an hors d'oeuvres buffet with the theme 7 Fishes. So, I'll be bringing something with scallops (on sale this week - so will grab the last day,) and maybe shrimp cocktail, as well. Not sure what my son is planning for Christmas Day - we usually do a roast beef and each of us brings sides. In the past scalloped potatoes, creamed onions, cranberry sauce, spinach-artichoke casserole (decadent with lots of butter and cream cheese to hold together the chopped spinach, layered with sliced water chestnuts and quartered artichoke hearts - topped with buttered and parmesan cheese breadcrumbs. No dieting on that day, for sure.
