Wow! Can you believe it's February already! I can't! The past year flew by for me as I worked on books and we added our oldest granddaughter to our household. We are back to taking a child to school, making sure her school work is done, and trying to find fun things for her to do.
I thought the days, weeks, months, and years went fast when my kids were growing up, but now as I'm older, they seem to go at warp speed.
This month's subject at RTG is Love. Makes sense. This is the month that many people spend money on gifts for the people they love or in the case of Valentines given out at school, to make sure everyone in the class feels loved.
As an adult, Valentine's Day doesn't mean a whole lot to me. I've gone through my marriage and parenthood showing those I love that I love them every day. It seems odd to pick a day and try to outdo what I do all year long. I'll make heart shaped cookies and put the local grandkids names on them and distribute the cookies to each child. I always make a heart shaped cake on Valentines. That is my nod to the day. I bake most of the time, I just put it in heart shapes on February 14th.
I do wish I could bake a heart-shaped cookie for everyone in the world with their name on it to show that they are loved. And figure out a way to get them all delivered. That would be a chore. But it would be from my heart. I know there are many people out there who aren't loved and treated fairly. Everyone deserves to be loved and feel special.

This book took a lot of thought and heart. After writing the previous book, I decided this would be the last book in the Shandra Higheagle series. I went back and forth. I love writing Shandra and Ryan's stories. However, I didn't want to be an author who had readers saying they should have stopped the series three books earlier, and I had added children to the series in Capricious Demise. Those children made it hard to write a book that doesn't look like the character, people have come to love, is neglecting her family to put herself in danger. For that reason, I decided to end the series, with a little teaser at the end of the book. ;)
