Hello and Happy New Year, dear Readers.
My name is Peggy Jaeger I can truly say I am grateful and
thrilled to be here.
My tagline says I write Contemporary Romance books and
RomComs about strong women, the families who support them, and the men who can’t
live without them. If I can make you cry on one page and bring you out of the sadness
with tears rolling down your cheeks from laughter the next, I figure I’ve done my
job as a writer.
That’s a pretty tall order some days, but I strive for it.
My books have been traditionally published but in 2019 I
released my first indie romance. For years I’d resisted the pull to
self-publish, but during an enforced recovery period from surgery, I thought
now would be the best time to figure out if I could do it. So I spent eight
weeks watching videos, listening to podcasts, and picking the brains of fellow
indie authors until I felt confident enough to release that little gem into the
bookreading world.
I live in nature’s backyard in the beautiful New England
state of New Hampshire, and when I say that, I’m not kidding. I live in the
woods, surrounded by 75-foot evergreen and elm trees, woodland animals in furry
and wild abundance, and, at this time of year, several feet of snow.
Family and food play huge roles in my stories because I believe that nothing holds a family structure together better than sharing a meal…or two…or ten. Dotted with humor and characters that are as real as they are loving, I bring all topics of daily life into my books: life, death, sibling rivalry, illness and the desire for everyone to find their own happily ever after. Growing up the only child of divorced parents I longed for sisters, brothers and a family that vowed to stick together no matter what came their way. Through my books, I’ve created the families I wanted as that lonely child.
I came to the publishing industry a little later
in life, since my very first book was published at the age of 55. 5 years and
20 books later and here I am: fulfilled in the second act of my life and darn
happy to be able to live my lifelong dream of being a published author.
This month's topic is HUMOR and we are charged with telling you something funny about ourselves, our family or friends, or even something amusing we read or in one of our books. I've got a little gem planned for January 24th for you, but I will tell you something personal about me that may make you chuckle. I have what is referred to as logorrhea. The true definition is extreme loquacity. My husband refers to it as don't-know-when-to stop-talking-itis. And I am afflicted with it to the max!!! You can probably tell that just from this blog. I love to talk, and I will talk a subject to death. But I also love to listen to other people talk, so I'm not as narcissistic as the definition of logorrhea would tell you.
Too much TMI? I guess I'll find out from any comments left, hee hee.

I look forward to blogging with the plethora of
talented authors here- I’m actually a bit intimidated ( in a good way) - and
interacting with new readers and writers. Thank you so much for allowing me to
rant (!) and until we meet again, it’s been a pleasure.
Until next time ~ Peg

Great blog - glad to get to know you better!
Thanks, Karen!!! good to see you here!
Peggy, Welcome to Romancing The Genres. My 8th grade teacher wrote on my report card that my biggest problem was that I was loquacious. My parents chuckled and told me to look the word up in the dictionary. So we have something in common other than coming to writing a bit later in life than many authors.
Judith 0 I love to talk and I love to listen - and I got that written on my report card every single year I was in school!!!
Great blog post! So glad to hear you're self-publishing is going well. It's daunting, but in these times, it's good to have a variety of different avenues through which we get out our books. Good luck!
Welcome, Peggy! Love the picture of your trees--we have snow and lovely views in Southcentral Alaska, but our trees are puny compared to yours. And I agree with your assessment that food brings people together. Looking forward to learning more about you and your books!
Lynn
Welcome Peg. Great blog! I call mine diarrhea of the mouth. I'm told it's part of my charm.
So good to have you among us!

Peggy, great post! Interesting getting to know a bit more about you. Welcome to Romancing the Genres! I loved the picture of the snow and big trees. I live in Bend, OR, and only have to travel 20 mins to be up in the Cascade Mts and big trees. Your books sound really good I will be checking them out.
Great post, Peggy! I, too, suffer from that ailment. I never knew it had a name. LOL! I love to hear that there are authors who are "late bloomers" and didn't start to publish until their 50's or 60's. I'll be 63 in April and hope to have my first indie published book out by spring.
Peggy - a huge welcome. I too suffer from the same disease. And I can attest to the fact Peggy does indeed love to talk, BUT, I can also say, she is worth listening to. I have attended several of her writers workshops and she always has valuable information to share and is willing to help other authors (plus she writes fun books.) SO, chatter on, Peggy, I always learn from you. And congrats on first indie book. Exciting!
Great post, Peggy. It's nice to learn more about you. We need loquacious people to fill the empty air left by those of us who are introverts! :-)
Jennifer, I know. And truthfully I would never have attempted it if Limitless hadn't dropped me.
Lynn - Wow you live in Alaska!!! that's amazeballs. YOu're weather is probably colder than ours but I bet our winters are just as long!
Marcia - that's what my mother calls it when she refers to me!! Diarrhea of the mouth!
Diana - thank you for the lovely welcome. I have to admit, during the winter it is pretty here, but after a day or two of being snowed in I'm wishing for spring!
Lori- CONGRATS! YOu go girl. I am hoping it comes out this spring too! COngrats
Deb- so nice to see you, especially since it's because of you I'm here at all!!!! thanks for the headsup and I'm so tickled to be joining you all.
Cat - it's so funny you say that abt being introverted because in most social situations, I am introverted if I don't know the people. It's only when I feel comfortable that my talkie side comes out!
Welcome to our little corner of Blog-land, Peggy! Funny you should mention snow in your intro as I'm looking at it falling fast and furious here in my wooded wonderland in Nova Scotia. You may have lots to say but I can attest that it's all valuable, whether it's a good laugh or a good nugget of info.
I love loquacious people because I love to ask questions and listen.
You join a good group of "late bloomers" on this blog. Though I prefer to call us mature writers who know what we want. :) I wrote my first novel at 51, then took four years to find a publisher. A year later my editor moved to another publisher and I was orphaned. Finally, at 58 my first book was published. The next year I tried an indie book (I'd kept writing but stopped submitting). The indie book did three times better than the trad book.
You have published a lot faster than I have getting 20 books in five years. Huge congrats on that. Looking forward to your posts throughout 2020.
Luanna - we live on the same geographic plane - no wonder we share snow days! hee hee. I'm thrilled to be here!.
Maggie _ i'm so happy to be in such auspicious company!! ADN YOU ARE CORRECT - WE ARE MATURE, not late!! hee hee. I write fast and I write full time, no kids at home, no pets, and a hubby who works 13-14 hr days. If I didn't write I'd eat and goodness knows what I'd be like!! hee hee. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Welcome, Peg! Your books sound like ones I would enjoy. I love to talk, too, although I'm somewhat introverted.
I have to ask, who or what is Limitless, who dropped you? (mentioned in your reply to Jennifer.)
Hi Sarah, LImitless Publishers was a firm I contracted to do a three book series with last year. After the first book didn't sell a million copies ( insert sarcasm) they decided not to go forward with the rest of the series. SInce the second book was already set to go, I just self pubbed it after they told me I could have the rights to the series title back right away.
